The NCIS Honors Internship program offers candidates a unique perspective into the agency, its mission, and what it takes to serve in one of the elite law enforcement organizations within the federal government and the world. NCIS seeks individuals who possess strong academic credentials, outstanding character, and a high degree of motivation for the internship program. This minimum 10-week experience immerses interns in unique experiences such as law enforcement, national security, intelligence, and cyber while working alongside experienced NCIS personnel. This opportunity is open to all academic backgrounds and NCIS strives to place candidates in various disciplines that match their experience, studies, and interests. The program provides interns with hands-on, real-world experiences to gain relevant work experience, skill sets, knowledge, and professional development toward attaining educational and career goals. The internship is paid, the compensation is GS 3, Step 1 or GS 4, Step 1. GS 3, Step 1 is completion of one full academic year post-high school study and GS 4, Step 1 is completion of two full academic years of post-high school study or associate’s degree. The internship location is either NCIS Headquarters in Quantico, VA or a NCIS field office. Relocation and travel expenses are not covered or reimbursed by NCIS. The spring internship requires a minimum of 16-hours per week. QUALIFICATIONS & ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must meet the following criteria: • U.S. Citizen • Enrolled not less than half time in a baccalaureate or graduate degree program at the time of application and for the entire internship timeframe • Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) • Meets NCIS drug policy, including no marijuana use in the last three years • Favorable completion of criminal history checks and credit checks • Favorable review of T3 investigation and submission for a secret clearance APPLICATION PROCESS: Please submit the following as pdf documents via email by the application deadline to ncis_internships@ncis.navy.mil. Please include your anticipated graduation month and year. • Essay (1 page) describing background, interests, objectives, and motivation to participate in the internship program. • Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a college/university faculty member). • College transcript with cumulative GPA included.
